Your job at Rijk Zwaan!
Rijk Zwaan develops and sells new vegetable varieties worldwide, using advanced phenotyping techniques, including 2D and 3D image analysis, to create the best varieties. As a Digital Phenotyping Researcher, you will explore and assess new Digital Phenotyping techniques to support the development of digital twin concepts for Rijk Zwaan's crops. Working closely with the Program Lead and Applied Image Analysis team, you’ll research global opportunities and validate new possibilities that align breeding needs with digital solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, coordinating, and executing projects to explore and validate innovative Digital Phenotyping techniques
- Improving development processes in collaboration with specialists and end users
- Advancing knowledge in Digital Phenotyping
- Advising on the application of new Digital Phenotyping developments in breeding
Where will you be working?
Rijk Zwaan is an international family business with a people-oriented corporate culture. Rijk Zwaan is at the beginning of the food chain. We develop vegetable varieties and sell their seeds to growers and other chain partners all over the world. In this way we make an important contribution to the world's food supply.
As a Researcher Digital Phenotyping, you will be part of the Breeding Process & Organisation (BP&O) team. The team consists of 17 specialists in the field of Genomic Breeding, Data Sciences, Digital Phenotyping, process analysis and project management, who jointly have the task of improving and optimising the processes and organisation of the breeding of all crops in Rijk Zwaan. The location for this position is in consultation De Lier or Fijnaart. You do work at both locations on a weekly basis, because different teams work on Digital Phenotyping.

You work both systematically and accurately, thriving in collaborative environments while also working well independently. You easily connect with people across teams, embrace diverse perspectives, and align with the team’s vision. You also have a talent for clearly presenting your findings, both verbally and in writing. Additionally, your CV highlights:
- A master's degree in Life Sciences
- Expertise in implementing technology for Digital Phenotyping
- Knowledge and experience in plant breeding (a plus)
