How does your job as a Breeder Tomato at Rijk Zwaan?

The Tomato breeding department of Rijk Zwaan Ibérica develops tomato varieties for many different market segments worldwide. As a Breeder Tomato, based in Spain, you will be part of our Tomato breeding team developing varieties for the winter protected cultivation market segment. As Breeder Tomato you will be working on new varieties, plant concepts and disease resistances, in close contact with the market they are intended for and in close cooperation with the sales team. You work alternatively in the greenhouse and the office. In addition, you are involved in:

· Various breeding tasks such as phenotyping, evaluation and administration of various selection and variety trials, both on location as abroad.

· International travel to judge variety trials.

· Setting up variety trials with different stakeholders like customers or research institutes

· Taking part in strategical discussions about the breeding program

What is your added value?

You are a real teamplayer. You are proactive, creative, flexible and solution oriented. You like to take initiative. You have eye for detail and are practical and pragmatic. You work in a structured manner and have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills. Mastering the English language is a prerequisite. Next to this we can find the following on your CV:

· A finished education on BSc or MSc level in the field of horticulture, agriculture, applied biology or plant breeding

· Experience at least 5 years in plant breeding

· Good command of English and Spanish language
