The cluster Oceania focuses on both Australia and New Zealand. The activities include breeding support, production, product development, marketing and sales. The company is led by a board of three Managing Directors who are jointly responsible for the entire operation and the 70 people working in Australia. Each Managing Director has his or her own attention fields. Within this role you are responsible for monitoring and controlling all financial, administrative and legal issues as well as HR and IT. As Managing Director you will be directly responsible for the colleagues of the Finance, HR and IT team. This group consists of four colleagues. With support from the Rijk Zwaan head office and globally operating crop teams, you will develop business strategies and tactics to grasp the opportunities in the dynamic vegetable seed market in Oceania and hence will ensure sustainable growth for the company. 

In addition, you will be responsible for: 

  • Making a five year development plan, including sales targets, investments and cost development, together with your co-Managing Directors on a yearly basis
  • Jointly leading the whole company with two other managing directors 
  • Reporting to the Rijk Zwaan board based in The Netherlands.

As Managing Director we expect you have a broad interest in all aspects of managing a company including fostering the unique Rijk Zwaan company culture, managing financial risks and legal compliance. You have an open personality, good communication skills, you are trustworthy and open to receive feedback and you can build bridges between people. We are looking for a hands-on, inspirational leader, someone who is both people- and result-oriented. We are seeking a good leader and organiser with an international outlook and global mindset, someone with an active and practical approach, positive thinking and attitude, orientated towards persevering and problem solving. 

In addition, we can find the following on your resume: 

  • An academic degree in the area of Business Economics and Management Studies 
  • More than five to ten years of managerial experience 
  • Strategic insights for commercial and company development 
  • A people-oriented management style and high team work abilities.

Where will you be working? 

 

Rijk Zwaan is an international family company with a people-oriented culture. Rijk Zwaan is at the beginning of the food chain. We develop fruit and vegetable varieties and sell the seeds to growers and other chain partners all over the world. We thus make an important contribution to the world food supply. You are based in Daylesford, but you will also be visiting our site in Bacchus Marsh regularly.
