Team Leader Breeding Peppers

Your job at Rijk Zwaan!

As Team Leader Breeding Paprika you are part of the Aubergine and Paprika Breeding department, which focuses on developing new varieties for various types of hot peppers, aubergine and sweet peppers. The international breeding team consists of (practical) breeders, assistants and support staff. In the role as Team Leader Breeding Paprika, you will lead a team of 6-7 breeders and work closely with specialists from various (inter)national departments, both within R&D and at operational level. Your responsibilities include: 

• Motivate, guide and manage the team in the execution of their tasks and projects 

• Analyzing, organizing, directing and timely adjusting the various breeding goals within the breeding programs 

• Preparing strategic crop meetings and drafting and implementing the breeding plans with team members 

• Implement and standardize (new) breeding methods 

• Breeding pepper varieties of the future. 

Where will you be working?

In De Lier, near Delft, lies the head office of Rijk Zwaan. An international family business with a people-oriented corporate culture. Rijk Zwaan is at the beginning of the food chain. We develop vegetable varieties and sell their seeds to growers all over the world. From our position we can and want to contribute to the world food supply. The Aubergine and Pepper Breeding department consists of more than 70 colleagues who play an important role in the development of resistant vegetable varieties. At Rijk Zwaan you get a lot of freedom to initiate research, carry it out yourself and the chance to start projects that have a direct impact on the global food supply.

Command of the English language and willingness to travel are important. In addition, we would like to see the following on your resume: 

• Green MSc education 

• Preferably experience in a leadership or project management position  

• Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages.
